Will my marble light fixture look exactly like the product photography?

It will share the same quality, character, and general colour range — but natural marble varies between individual pieces. No two pieces of natural Spanish marble are identical; veining patterns, colour depth, and tonal variation are inherent to the material. What you receive will be in the same colour family and quality as the photography, with its own natural nuance. This variation is a feature, not a defect — it is what makes each piece unique. How do I clean natural marble light fixtures?

Wipe marble surfaces with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry immediately — never leave moisture sitting on the stone. Use only pH-neutral, non-abrasive cleaners if needed. Never use acidic cleaners including vinegar, lemon-based products, or standard bathroom tile sprays — these will etch and permanently dull the marble surface. For copper elements (NOCTIVINE, AURELA), a dry or barely damp cloth is sufficient. If you prefer to slow the natural patina development on copper, a small amount of clear wax applied periodically will protect the surface. Do not use metal polish on copper components — it removes the natural surface rather than preserving it.

Can marble lighting be used in a bathroom?

Untreated natural marble is porous and will absorb moisture over time, which can lead to staining and surface degradation in high-humidity environments. Standard marble light fixtures from our Marble Lighting collection are designed for dry interior environments. For bathroom vanity applications, use them only in the outer zone (Zone 3 — outside the splash area) where humidity is lower. Never install a standard marble fixture within Zone 1 or 2. Does the copper patina over time, and is that normal?

Yes — copper naturally oxidises when exposed to air and light, developing a patina that progresses from bright copper through warm amber tones to, eventually, a richer aged appearance. This is entirely natural and expected, and in most design contexts it improves the fixture over time — giving it the aged, character-rich quality that new finishes cannot replicate. If you prefer to maintain the brighter copper appearance, apply a clear furniture wax or copper protective wax to the metal surface every 6–12 months. This slows (but does not stop) the patina process.

Are marble light fixtures heavy to install?

Compared to standard metal fixtures, yes — natural stone adds weight. Wall sconces from the Marble Lighting collection are heavier than equivalent metal-only sconces. Fixings must go into wall studs, masonry, or use heavy-duty wall anchors rated for the fixture weight. Never mount a marble sconce using standard drywall anchors. A licensed electrician will assess the wall structure and use appropriate fixings. Weight is listed on each product page — check before purchasing if your wall type is a concern.

What room types suit marble lighting best?

Marble lighting is most at home in rooms where natural materials are already part of the design language — bedrooms with linen and timber, living rooms with stone flooring or feature walls, offices with natural material finishes, and dining rooms where warmth and materiality are important. It works particularly well alongside our Wabi Sabi collection and organic interior styles. It's less suited to high-gloss, all-synthetic, or very cool and clinical contemporary interiors where the warmth of natural stone may feel incongruous.

How do I choose between copper, gold, and black iron pairings?

Copper (NOCTIVINE, AURELA) suits warm-toned interiors — amber, terracotta, warm timber, ochre. It pairs naturally with warm white light and aged or natural materials. Gold suits interiors with existing gold hardware, warm whites, and cream tones — it's more formal and polished than copper. Black iron (IRON) suits cooler, more contemporary interiors with dark accents, cool whites, and grey or charcoal tones. Match the metal finish to the dominant metal already present in the room — tapware, door hardware, cabinet pulls. Consistent metal across fixtures and hardware is what makes a room feel cohesive rather than assembled.

Are marble light fixtures dimmable?

Dimming capability depends on the specific model. Check the product page for each fixture in the Marble Lighting collection for dimming options. For bedside applications — where marble sconces are frequently used — a dimmable variant is strongly recommended, as the ability to reduce bedside light to near-zero for the pre-sleep transition is a significant quality-of-life improvement. Where a dimmable variant isn't available for a specific marble fixture, a compatible LED wall dimmer switch will work with the dimmable models.
