Floor & Table Lights
Light at the Human Level
Overhead lighting illuminates a room. Floor and table lamps make it liveable. Our floor and table light collection brings light down to the level where it matters most—beside a reading chair, on a bedside table, in the corner of a living room that needs warmth rather than brightness.
- Material range: Beech wood, mulberry paper, metal, acrylic, and fabric—tactile, considered materials that read well at close range.
- Floor-to-ceiling options: ZURU reaches 110 inches and is available in plug-in or hardwired versions—ideal for corners with height to fill.
- Global plug types: US, EU, UK, and AU plug variants available across the range. Check the product page for your region.
Why Floor and Table Lamps Belong in Every Room
- The third layer of light: A room lit only from overhead always feels flat. A floor lamp in a corner, or a table lamp on a console, adds the warmth and shadow variation that makes a space feel designed rather than lit.
- No electrician required: Unlike hardwired ceiling and wall fixtures, plug-in floor and table lamps can be repositioned, added, or removed without any installation work—making them the easiest way to improve a room's lighting immediately.
- Bedside done right: A table lamp on each bedside table is the most classic bedroom lighting decision for good reason—it positions warm light at eye level, is individually controlled, and grounds the bed visually. Pair with our bedroom chandeliers overhead.
- Reading and task focus: A well-positioned floor lamp or table lamp provides the concentrated light needed for reading that overhead fixtures rarely deliver. Position it so the light source sits slightly behind and above the reading material.
Pairing Floor and Table Lights
- A floor lamp in the corner of a living room softens the edges that an overhead chandelier or pendant leaves dark
- A table lamp on a hallway console paired with a wall light above creates a layered entry moment
- Two matching bedside table lamps flanking a bed anchor the space visually and provide symmetrical reading light

How to Choose a Floor or Table Lamp
- Floor lamp scale: A floor lamp should be tall enough that the shade sits at or above eye level when you're seated—typically 58–64 inches to the bottom of the shade for seated spaces.
- Table lamp scale: The bottom of the shade should sit at roughly chin height when you're seated beside it—typically a lamp 24–30 inches tall on a standard bedside table.
- Plug vs. hardwired: All table lamps and most floor lamps are plug-in. ZURU also offers a hardwired version for a clean, cable-free installation in rooms where socket placement is inconvenient.
- Shade material matters: Opaque shades (fabric, paper) direct light downward and create a warm pool effect. Translucent shades glow and spread light more diffusely. Choose based on whether you need directed task light or ambient fill.
