Bedroom Lighting
Calm Overhead, Warm at the Bedside
Bedroom lighting has a single overriding priority: it must be able to go low. Everything else follows from that. Our bedroom lighting collection covers chandeliers with low visual weight suited to standard ceiling heights—BLOOM's Nordic branch form, SYCAMORE's Scandinavian bubble cluster, COTERIE's interlocking ring pendant—alongside wall sconces for hardwired bedside light and table lamps for plug-in bedside warmth. Every piece is selected for its compatibility with a sleep environment: warm-white light, dimmable, proportioned for rooms that are used to wind down as much as to dress and function.
- Warm white prioritised: Bedroom lighting should be 2700–3000K. Cooler temperatures suppress melatonin and make winding down harder. All bedroom-relevant Zenduce fixtures are available in warm white.
- Always dimmable: RC Dimmable variants throughout the range allow the overhead light to be reduced to near-zero for the pre-sleep transition. Wall sconces with step-dimming or continuous dimming provide the final low-level bedside light.
- Low-profile ceiling options: For 8-foot bedrooms, flush-mount and compact semi-flush chandeliers maintain 7 feet of clearance below while still delivering design quality overhead.
- Bedside choices: Hardwired bedside wall sconces (clean, surface-freeing) vs. plug-in table lamps (flexible, repositionable). Both are in the collection—choose based on whether you're fitting out a new bedroom or furnishing an existing one.
How to Layer Bedroom Lighting
- Overhead first: A central chandelier or pendant provides the ambient light—the layer you turn on when you walk into the room and dim as you wind down. Browse chandeliers filtered by room for bedroom-specific options.
- Bedside second: Wall sconces hardwired at 50–55 inches from the floor on either side of the bed provide reading light that doesn't require a bedside table. Table lamps are the plug-in alternative—repositionable and requiring no installation.
- Accent optional: A small table lamp on a dresser or floor lamp in a corner adds a third, decorative layer. In larger master bedrooms, this is worth considering. In smaller rooms, the overhead + bedside combination is typically sufficient.
- Avoid cool white entirely: The bedroom is the one room in the home where the colour temperature of lighting directly affects sleep quality. Warm white (2700–3000K) throughout, without exception.

How to Choose Bedroom Lighting
- Ceiling clearance first: 7 feet from floor to fixture bottom is the minimum in a bedroom. For an 8-foot ceiling with a 12-inch drop, you'll have exactly 7 feet of clearance—check product dimensions carefully.
- Compact diameter: Bedroom chandeliers and pendants are typically 16–24" in diameter. The bedroom is not where you want the fixture to dominate—it should complement the bed as the room's primary element, not compete with it.
- Hardwired vs. plug-in bedside: Hardwired wall sconces look cleaner and eliminate cables, but require planning before construction or renovation. Plug-in table lamps are available immediately and repositionable—the better choice for an existing room.
- One dimmer, minimum: The overhead light in a bedroom must be dimmable. If you add only one dimmer switch to your home, make it the bedroom overhead.
